EMDR Therapy is both structured and dynamic, manualized yet flexible, progressive yet intuitively fluid. Becoming skilled at applying EMDR to complex cases is a process. Because of this, there are many specialized trainings, books, and texts for you to choose from to build your clinical EMDR skills. One in particular, that I highly recommend, is Jim Knipe's EMDR Toolbox: Theory and Treatment of Complex PTSD and Dissociation. In fact, I refer to it in nearly every consultation group that I lead.
Due to how invaluable it is, I decided to offer a guided book study group this Spring. The goal is to assist you in working through the material in a structured way, answer questions and explore how these teachings can be a solution to your more difficult cases.
Over the course of the the Brown Bag Lunch Series we'll work through the text book in six (6) one-hour sessions. You'll still need to do the reading yourself. But I trust that working through the text in a structured setting will help ensure that you understand these essential concepts and begin to apply them to your own clinical work.
Group structure will be roughly: 40 mins. content review & teaching + 15 mins. Q&A
Meetings held Live on Zoom**
Core concepts will be reviewed and clarified
Protocol steps further explained and discussed
Participants questions addressed
Participants provide their own copy of the text*
Reading the chapters in advance is encouraged, though not required ("You'll get out of it what you put into it.")
