About Gretchen

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Registered Yoga Teacher and a Certified Prenatal Yoga Teacher.  A native of California, I attended UC Berkeley for my undergraduate studies and graduated with a BA in 1994.  In 2001, I received a joint Masters in Social Welfare and Public Policy from UCLA.

My professional experience includes a variety of child and family related roles, including: Child Protective Services in Los Angeles and San Francisco; Prevention research and advocacy; Foster Care mental health; Child, Adolescent & Family Mental Health; Prevention and Early Intervention services; Maternal Mental Health advocacy and service delivery.

In my private practice I work with individuals and families who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma or other concerns.  In addition, I am actively involved in the San Diego maternal mental health community as a longstanding volunteer and a Member of the Board of Directors for Postpartum Health Alliance.  I am trained in multiple treatment protocols, including mindfulness and meditation, EMDR, yoga for emotional and physical health, play therapy, attachment theory, early child development, and perinatal (i.e. pregnancy and postpartum) mood and anxiety disorders.  I am passionate about supporting parents in raising secure, resilient, and emotionally healthy kids.  I welcome you to contact me if you have questions or would like to discuss if my approach is right for you.
